Swisher is proud to acknowledge and support Missouri’s Manufacturing Day for 2021. With the challenges surrounding Covid-19, this year’s event will once again be held virtually.
This event is set off by the Missouri Chamber Manufacturing Alliance, in partnership with Missouri Enterprise and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and their Dream It. Do It. initiative that is geared towards inspiring the next generation of makers and innovators. This event takes place every October where manufacturing companies all over the state of Missouri open their doors to High School students to help show them different career paths in manufacturing sectors.
This annual event is one way to highlight how manufacturing is essential to our state as well as future generations! Helping to raise awareness that manufacturing isn’t just “dirty, dangerous work”, but it is much of the foundation for Missouri and the United States as a whole. It has been thought that a boom in technological advances would have a significant impact on manufacturing jobs, but contrary to this popular belief, modern technology has not hindered the manufacturing industry but has instead put in a higher demand for skilled workers, engineers, technicians, and machinists.
Some predictions estimate that 4.6 million manufacturing jobs will need to be filled in the U.S. in the next 10 years. Filling manufacturing roles has been challenging throughout the U.S., even before the pandemic hit. One way to reach these upcoming generations and bring awareness to the vast opportunities available in manufacturing and how these industries impact their economy locally and nationally is through MFG Day!
